Am I Too Old For Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures performed every year, and women of a wide age range undergo the procedure without any difficulty. Although some individuals worry they’re too old for breast augmentation, when it comes down to it, your health is the deciding factor for whether you are a good candidate for breast augmentation – not your age.

During your initial consultation, Houston plastic surgeon, Dr. Sam Sukkar, will go over your medical history and perform a comprehensive exam to determine if you could achieve your desired results from breast implants. Since the body undergoes several changes as we age, older patients may have different needs from someone who is in their 20s. For example, the breasts may begin to descend on the chest wall, due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, or the natural aging process. If this is the case, Dr. Sukkar may recommend a breast lift in addition to or in place of a breast augmentation (often referred to simply as a breast augmentation with lift).

In the end, our goal is to help you achieve your dream body and feel confident and beautiful. If breast augmentation is not right for you, Dr. Sukkar will help you find an alternative solution that may help you get closer to your ideal appearance. DR. SUKKAR SELECTED AS MEMBER OF THE ISAPS

With a commitment to producing the best plastic surgery results possible, Dr. Sam Sukkar is pleased to reveal he has been accepted into the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). As the world’s leading organization for board-certified aesthetic plastic surgeons, ISAPS is composed of more than 2,400 member surgeons spanning 94 different countries. This accreditation communicates to patients that they are receiving care from the most qualified of surgeons.

The mission of ISAPS is to promote excellence in aesthetic plastic surgery, and only the most qualified surgeons are considered for membership. The rigorous review process requires surgeons to be in practice for at least three years after all preliminary medical training, and they must demonstrate they are board certified, uphold the highest safety standards, are committed to ethical care, and are trained in the latest techniques and treatments.

In addition to accrediting cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeons, ISAPS holds scientific conferences, where surgeons can discuss the latest research and innovations in the field. Dr. Sukkar says, “Having a global exposure allows ISAPS member surgeons to broaden their aesthetic surgical perspective and learn from colleagues who may have developed new techniques not common in the U.S.” Beyond the exciting opportunity of traveling internationally to these meetings, Dr. Sukkar emphasizes, “By remaining open and receptive to the knowledge of others, we can adopt or adapt new techniques that can improve the lives of our patients.”

Do I Need A Breast Augmentation Or Lift?

DO I NEED A BREAST AUGMENTATION OR LIFT?

Many women come to Sukkar Aesthetic Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa wishing to alter their breasts but aren’t sure which procedure is right for them. To determine the right solution for your needs, Dr. Sam Sukkar will conduct a physical examination while also listening to what you hope to achieve through surgery. Based on this information, he can establish whether you need a breast augmentation and/or a lift.

In general, breast augmentation is ideal for those who wish to enhance the size and shape of their breasts. The procedure can restore volume if the breasts begin to look deflated, such as after breastfeeding, or if the patient simply wants to increase their breast size. Additionally, the use of breast implants can help improve symmetry.

breast lift, on the other hand, is designed to raise the tissue to a more youthful position on the chest wall, which can include lifting the areola if it has descended below the level of the breast crease. The breast lift procedure provides beautiful results for those with moderate to severe drooping of the breasts.

Should a patient have more severe drooping and also desires an increase in their breast size, a breast augmentation combined with a lift may be the best option. To learn which option(s) can help you reach your aesthetic goals, please contact our office to schedule your consultation.

Dr. Sukkar Answers FAQs About Coolsculpting

CoolSculpting is an advanced new procedure performed at The Clinic for Plastic Surgery in Houston. Dr. Sam Sukkar is pleased to offer the non-invasive solution for those desiring a body contouring treatment with minimal downtime. To help you get a better understanding of what CoolSculpting entails and what you can expect should you undergo the treatment, Dr. Sukkar answers frequently asked questions below.

How does CoolSculpting work?
CoolSculpting is designed to eliminate fat cells to create a more desired body shape through the process of Cryolipolysis®. This involves intense cooling of the target area, which leads to crystallization of the fat cells without harming the surrounding tissue. As a result, the fat cells are gradually destroyed, providing a slightly contoured appearance to the trouble area.

Am I a good candidate for CoolSculpting?
Those who are of a healthy weight but are unhappy with localized areas of stubborn fat that can’t be reduced with diet and exercise typically make good candidates for CoolSculpting. These patients often desire a non-surgical approach to contouring specific areas of fat. It should be noted that CoolSculpting is not a treatment for obesity and is not a substitute for procedures like liposuction.

How do CoolSculpting results compare to liposuction?
Since CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure, the results are more subtle and occur more gradually than liposuction. However, patients who are looking for a non-surgical body contouring procedure may find CoolSculpting to be a viable option.

What can I expect following the procedure?
Immediately following your CoolSculpting procedure, the treated fat cells will begin to break down and naturally pass through the body over time. Patients can typically see their results improve over the course of two to four months. After this period, you can undergo additional sessions should you desire further treatment.

How Juvederm Voluma XC Compares To Other Dermal Fillers

With so many cosmetic treatment options available these days, it can be difficult to understand which solution is right for you. This uncertainty is common with people interested in dermal fillers, as the injectables tend to be a popular treatment for facial aging, but there are several kinds. At The Clinic for Plastic Surgery and PS Med Spa, we offer a variety of fillers, which includes the advanced Juvéderm VOLUMA™ XC among others, each having its own unique benefits.

Juvéderm VOLUMA™ XC is the first and only injectable with a base of hyaluronic acid (HA) that is FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe lines in the midface. It is used to augment the cheek area to restore volume that has been lost with age. By filling the area, cheek tissue appears to be lifted, which can influence the intensity of nasolabial folds to be reduced in the process. What makes Juvéderm VOLUMA™ XC so unique is its long-lasting results compared to other HA fillers. The highly cross-linked formula causes the injectable to provide results that can last up to two years, while other options may require multiple treatment sessions and touch-ups to maintain the same outcome.

While Juvéderm VOLUMA™ XC has proven to be highly beneficial to correct signs of aging, it is possible that another dermal filler may be more appropriate for your unique goals. Our team also offers Radiesse®, Artefill®, Restylane®, and Perlane® to help patients rejuvenate their facial appearance. We encourage you to schedule a consultation with our office to learn which treatment option has the greatest potential for helping you reach your unique aesthetic goals.
