Fat injections can be a great way to naturally enhance any area of the body, providing a smoother, more beautiful contour. While most of my patients choose to have fat injections to enhance their facial features, such as their lips or cheeks, fat grafting can also be used to contour other areas of the body. Another common area for fat injections is the buttocks for improved shape. The injections help to fill out flatter areas and create the desired contours. Because we are using fat, the results should be soft and natural.

Recently, breast enhancement fat injections have been gaining popularity as well. Over the past few years, more and more women are utilizing these injections as an adjunct to their breast augmentation. I use fat injections to help camouflage areas where a patient’s tissues may be thinner, so that the implant will be less likely to show a rippling effect in that area. This technique is also beneficial for breast reconstruction patients to help create a softer, more natural appearance to the reconstructed breast. No matter where you select to have fat grafting treatments, most patients will require a follow-up treatment, as some of the fat may be re-absorbed into the body.

GAIN CONTOUR AND SHAPE WITH VASER® LIPOSCULPTURE

For most of my patients seeking to remove excess pockets of fat with liposuction, I recommend VASER® Liposculpture. With this unique technology, I am able to selectively remove fat that is resistant to diet and exercise. With traditional liposuction, it is more difficult to remove fat as precisely because it does not allow for the same level of control offered by VASER® Liposculpture. The technique I use, called “high definition,” or “Hi Def” allows me to create shape and contour that can meet each patient’s individual needs. The VASER® High Definition Liposculpture procedure also differs from traditional liposuction because it generally causes less bruising and less trauma to my patients. This advantage is another reason why it is my preferred method of fat reduction. More importantly, though, VASER® Hi Def is actually able to remove more fat than traditional liposuction, because it is able to address the superficial layer of fat. This layer of fat is not able to be removed with traditional methods, which only address the deep and middle layers of fat. VASER® Hi Def allows me to treat all three layers, and gives me the ability to precisely remove fat so that I can carefully reveal the athletic figure you’ve worked so hard for!

Sukkar Recon Warriors

SUKKAR RECON WARRIORS

Our entire staff here atThe Clinic for Plastic Surgery in Houston recently participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Our team, called the “Sukkar Recon Warriors” worked together to raise funds to support research and awareness for breast cancer. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we were excited to be able to participate and support such a good cause!

As a plastic surgeon who offers breast reconstruction to breast cancer survivors after having a mastectomy, this cause is close to Dr. Sukkar’s heart. He cares very much for his patients, and he was happy to get a chance to show his support for women all over the world. Team “Sukkar Recon Warriors” raised a total of $530 in donations for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, more than doubling our team goal!

Dr. Sukkar says he plans to continue supporting breast cancer prevention, awareness, and research, and hopes to participate in this event again. Our team is excited to hopefully raise even more donations next year!

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY AT STAR OF HOPE

Dr. Sam Sukkar and everyone on our wonderful team believe it is important for us to stay connected to our community through involvement, and we strive to set a good example for others, especially our children. Recently, our very own Jessica, Ruby and Aracely visited Star of Hope to help serve breakfast to many members of Houston’s homeless population. At Star of Hope, the needs of thousands of homeless men, women, and children are met through the support and dedication of a strong network of volunteers. Star of Hope also offers structured programs to homeless individuals, designed to encourage growth in their personal and professional lives. We are so proud of Ruby, Aracely, and Jessica for their involvement with this organization. When asked about their experience, they said:

“Devoting our time to Star of Hope was a great experience. Everyone was so kind and sweet; they made us feel at home. It was nice to see how these great women helped and cared for each other, as if they were one big family. We are very thankful for the opportunity to serve these special families.”

Former Patient Discusses Her Treatment Experience

Pauline is a patient of ours who recently underwent a combination of procedures including a breast reduction, tummy tuck, and phenol peel. She was gracious enough to sit down with us to answer a few questions regarding her treatment experience at The Clinic for Plastic Surgery. Below is our interview with Pauline.

What made you decide to undergo plastic surgery to achieve your cosmetic enhancement goals?

At the age of 61, the unfortunate aging process and the loss of skin elasticity are the main reasons, but all my life I have had a history of gaining and losing weight.

How did you go about choosing Dr. Sukkar as your plastic surgeon?

It started with a referral from a friend who had used Dr. Sukkar for her breast reduction. She was extremely excited about the results of her surgery, and she mentioned how helpful and caring Dr. Sukkar and his staff were with her during the whole process.

My research consisted of reading through internet data from various plastic surgeons and then the consultation with Dr. Sukkar and his staff. I chose Dr. Sukkar because of his apparent dedication to providing his patients with results over and beyond their expectations. My decision was made based on how confident and comfortable I felt after meeting and speaking with Dr. Sukkar, his staff, and the surgery team. I knew this was the team of medical professionals I could trust to complete my surgery successfully, with the results I expected.

Did you have a general idea of the procedures that may have been the best options for your goals, or did you make your decision about specific procedures during the initial consultation with Dr. Sukkar?

Going into the consultation I knew I wanted the breast reduction, but after talking with the cosmetic coordinator, I made a decision to also receive the tummy tuck and phenol peel.

How long was the process, from the first consultation to your final results?

Once I made the decision that I was going to have the procedures performed, the whole process took approximately 90 days.

How do you feel now that the procedures have been performed?

I feel absolutely fantastic.

What do your friends and loved ones think of your new look?

Everyone is amazed at the difference it has made, not only in my appearance, but also in the way I feel.

How would you describe your overall experience?

I could not have asked for a better group of medical professionals to be by my side during such a dramatic procedure, and the reason I can say this is because I have had many major surgeries (including three total R-hip replacements) in the past 10-12 years.
